BMS applications and overview


In the "electric" era, the term new energy is not unfamiliar, such as electric bicycles, new energy vehicles, home energy storage, power tools, scooters and other applications are involved in the field of new energy, and most of the new energy is inseparable from the dependence on batteries.


At present, most of the batteries on the market have problems such as capacity freezing at low temperature, safety at high temperature, energy waste caused by the wooden barrel effect when multi-use, and battery damage when over-voltage, so in order to ensure that people fully use batteries on the basis of safety, Battery Management System (BMS) becomes an indispensable part of it.


The main functions of a typical BMS include the following:

Information collection

Information collection mainly includes battery voltage, temperature, charging and discharging current;

Charge and discharge function

Intelligent charge and discharge control, charge and discharge protection under over-discharge, over-charge, over-current and over-temperature conditions;

Information monitoring

Real-time monitoring of remaining capacity (SOC), service life (SOH), etc.

Communication function

Feedback the information collected by the battery pack and the status of the battery to the control center;

Protection function

Trigger short circuit protection function in case of short circuit of charge and discharge;


06

Equalizing function

Active and passive balancing to improve the consistency between individual batteries in the battery pack.


DXY-BMG1660-H0A00 Scheme design


Xy-bmg1660-h0a00 is the same port BMS based on GD/CW MCU, AFE, Mapson/Sunyang NMOSFET design, with basic information collection, charge and discharge protection, SOC calculation, RS485 communication, parameter setting and other functions. It can be used in portable energy storage, two-wheeled electric vehicles, power tools and other products, compatible with product applications within 16S, the design principle is shown in Figure 1, and the physical picture is shown in Figure 2.
